Animation Hotline

Martina Scarpelli is an Italian filmmaker living in Denmark. She studied Fine Art at the “Academy of Brera” in Milan, and later animation at the “Experimental Center of Cinematography” in Turin. She participated in Animation sans frontieres, as well as in Anidox:Lab and Residency.
Her sensitive short film "Egg" won numerous prizes, including the Jean-Luc Xiberras award for a first film at Annecy Festival. Besides her films, she works on commissions, such as the mezmerizing music video "A little too much" for Kai, and the bright videogame "Mazeout" dealing with eating disorders.
She lately started working as a producer and collaborates with Late Love productions, to develop her personal projects, such as her upcoming feature film.

Gabriel Harel est un réalisateur français qui vit à Marseille.
Il étudie aux Beaux-Arts, puis à la Poudrière. En 2016, son film "Yùl et le Serpent", puissant et cru, remporte le Cartoon d'Or. Il développe ensuite "La Nuit des sacs plastiques", d'abord en résidence à Viborg au Danemark, où nous nous sommes rencontrés, puis avec le soutien de Kazak productions.
Ce second court-métrage est primé aux César 2020. Ses films mélangent des techniques de prises de vue réelles et d'animation traditionnelle, sans pour autant être de la rotoscopie, conférant à ses personnages une forte authenticité.

Film director, graphic artist and painter, Marta Pajek is from Poland. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and studied at the Animated Film Studio headed by Jerzy Kucia. She also participated in a training program lead by Priit Pärn at the Turku Arts Academy in Finland. Since then, she has directed short animated films, such as After Apples, Behind the Wall, or Sleepincord. We met at Ottawa International film festival in 2016 when she presented the second chapter of her singular trilogy "Impossible figures and other stories". The film introduced us to her quirky and fantastic universe, that she developed furthermore in the two other parts.

La réalisatrice française Sarah Van Den Boom grandit dans une famille d'artistes : de la sculpture au dessin en passant par l'architecture et la vidéo. Elle se tourne vers le cinéma d'animation et étudie à l'ESAG de Penninghen, puis à l'Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs où elle obtient son diplôme avec son film de fin d'études "C'est rien". Elle réalise ensuite son premier court métrage "Novecento, pianiste", adapté du texte de Baricco, que j'adore. Elle collabore sur plusieurs projets d'animation, tout en développant ses propres films, sensibles et délicats, dont "La femme squelette", "Dans les eaux profondes" et récemment "Raymonde ou l'évasion verticale". Elle a co-fondé la société de production Papy3D avec plusieurs réalisateurs dont Jérémy Clapin, Gilles Cuvellier, Franck Dion, ainsi que le compositeur Pierre Caillet et le producteur Richard Van Den Boom. Elle travaille aujourd'hui au développement du long-métrage "Séraphine".

Tal Kantor is an Israeli independent Animation Filmmaker & Visual Artist. I discovered her work through the simple and moving film "In other words".
She Graduated from the 'Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design', in 2015. She also studied film, new media and animation at the 'School of the Art Institute of Chicago'.
Since then, she has been working on various projects and films, such as an art director for the documentary feature film "Advocate", Oscars Shortlisted in 2019, as a concept art developer, as a curator of animation exhibitions and programs, as well as a writer and editor at the Israeli magazine "moonfash".
She just finished her new short animated film " letter to a pig" that she animated during her residency at CICLIC in 2019.
